I mean it, forget them! Appart from a select few like Elle Decoration, I could live without glossy magazines. Who needs to know which celebrity is thinnest really? There is now a new wave of magazines breaking through the hum-drum to talk to you about the genuinely inspiring goings on of the world. And they're all mat!
These are zines where design, lifestyle and intrepid journalism unite. Articles are unexpected and quirky, seeking to find the best in the world, celebrating unusual beauty wherever it hides. But naturally, and you may say superficially, from my designer's point of view I love the move towards gorgeous mat paper - and the care and finess poured into designing these magazines. You will want to keep them forever and that's how they do justice to the journalism they contain. Hell I might even frame one.
